History of the Awards

The Born Digital Wine Awards is a competition dedicated to rewarding high-quality online material focused on wine including articles, photos and videos and recently, podcasts. It was created in 2011 and initially ran as part of the European Wine Bloggers Conference, later known as the Digital Wine Communication Conference. Assessment is supported by a complex and flexible judging system which ensures complete objectivity and entries are vetted by a panel of high-profile journalists and industry experts.

BDWA is the only competition to accept material in a range of languages including English, French, Italian, German, Portuguese and Spanish.

From 2015 to 2017 it was named Born Digital Wine Awards by Wine in Moderation and from in 2018 the organisers signed a sponsorship deal with industry innovators Vinventions leading to the new name “Born Digital Wine Awards with Vinventions” and a whole new look. Vinventions has brought energy and a new perspective to the awards which has lead us to transform some of the classic categories into dynamic awards and prizes.

Our winners include some top names in the wine industry and our shortlists represent “must-see” material for anyone operating in the industry both in terms of authors and content.
