Lauren Mowery is an award-winning writer and photographer. She recently assumed the role of Contributing Travel Editor at Wine Enthusiast. She writes regular wine and travel features for Forbes and USA Today, and spent four years penning columns on wine and specialty coffee for New York City paper The Village Voice. A graduate of the University of Virginia and Fordham Law School, she began her professional career in New York as a lawyer. Disillusioned with that path, she left law for a startup role with the wine group at Gilt Taste before jumping full-time into freelance writing. She recently sat the Master of Wine exam, earned the WSET Diploma, and remains a member of the New York Bar Association.
From the vineyards of Europe, to the coffee farms of Central America, the photos and stories of her travels have been published in myriad digital and print outlets. Publications include Saveur, Wine & Spirits, TimeOut, Eater, Tasting Panel, Somm Journal, Voyeur (Virgin Australia’s inflight), Punch, SevenFifty Daily, The Independent UK, Alquimie, Terre, Men’s Journal, Palate Press, Fodor’s.com, and Lonely Planet. She writes a quarterly spirits column for Incisal Edge, a luxury lifestyle magazine for dental professionals.
