BDWA is the world’s only journalism competition accepting material in several languages – submissions now open until the end of the year
Porto, PORTUGAL (December 7, 2018) — Since 2011, the Born Digital Wine Awards have been showcasing quality content produced online across the world in a variety of different languages and have now opened for their latest edition.
The awards will accept entries until the end of the year and have already attracted submissions from across the globe. This seventh edition of the awards has seen major changes in the categories thanks to the partnership with main sponsor Vinventions. Richard Siddle, Chair of the awards said, “The Born Digital Wine Awards are back ‒ bigger and better than before. What’s exciting about these awards is that it evolves and moves to keep pace with how we are all now creating, communicating and sharing content online. The new and revised categories have been introduced to be able to showcase and reward the best examples of how individuals are using either written or visual content to share on digital, online and social platforms.”
The BDWA is open to the following categories:
- Best Editorial (Text)
- Best Tourism Content with a wine Focus (Text or Video)
- Best Food & Wine Content (Text or Video)
- Best Interview (Text, Video or Podcast)
- Best Visual Storytelling (Images or Video)
These categories have been supplemented with two additional special prizes. As a reflection of the importance of environmental issues in today’s world, the Special Sustainability prize will be awarded to the content, across all categories and medium, that focuses on the work that individuals or businesses are doing to create a more sustainable industry.
Content creators, businesses and personalities pushing the boundaries of what is the norm in the wine business may also apply to the 2018 Innovation Award. Vinventions, a pioneer in innovation, will assign the Innovation Award to those who look to break the status quo.
Entries will be accepted until the end of the year, after which they will be evaluated by a team of mother-tongue assessors before being passed to a star-stuffed panel of high-profile journalists, influencers and industry experts.
“I am also very pleased and honoured to be able to introduce some more stellar names to our already impressive judging panels. People who are all at the top of their respective games,” said Richard Siddle. Regarding the new partnership with Vinventions, he added, “It is also great to be able to welcome Vinventions as our main partner as this is a business that encapsulates innovation and the need to move, adapt and create new solutions and ideas for its business and the wine industry it serves. This is firmly at the heart of what the Born Digital Wine Awards is all about”.
The awards are open to all material produced and published online in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish between 1st June 2017 and 30th November 2018. Awards will be judged by a panel of industry experts, influencers and communicators, including last year’s winners with shortlists being announced in March and April. Winners will receive financial prizes as well as special gifts from our sponsor Coravin.
The awards are supported by Sonoma State University Wine Business Institute, Vinocamp and Wine.com
