Jonathan Lipsmeyer is the author of GARGANTUANWINE.COM, a wine blog started in July 2014 which received the 1st place 2017 BDWA prize for Best Investigative Journalistic Wine Story, and 2nd place 2017 BDWA award for Best Editorial/Opinion Wine Writing. His blog has also received critical acclaim from terroirist.com and has even elicited an impassioned defense from steveheimoff.com. He has appeared in cover stories for BevMedia and Publix magazine, and was honored to serve as a US judge in the Wines of Portugal 2017 Challenge. Jonathan has been a Wine Buyer and Sales Associate at Winfield Flynn Wines and Spirits in New York City for over 6 years. During a 9 year stay in Bordeaux and Paris, France, Jonathan taught English and earned a Master’s degree from the Sorbonne. Jonathan spends his time away from food and wine teaching French to children and translating, and, in the aftermath of the 2016 election, volunteering to teach English in immigrant and refugee language classes, help underprivileged communities write their first résumés, and hand out flowers to residents of a local nursing home.
